We wanted our customers to know about a major server upgrade that we performed over the weekend (July 12, 2014).  We migrated all of our website, database and email servers to new hardware with double the processing power (more CPU cores) and nearly triple the RAM.  We also moved to the latest-and-greatest operating system and database software to take advantage of better performance and enhanced security features.

What this means to our customers:

  • Faster performance on their websites
  • More capacity to handle a higher volume of website visitors
  • Faster performance on the webmail system
  • Enhanced security to prevent attacks before they start

Thanks for being a SiteWizard customer!  We are always working hard to improve our services.  Let us know if there is anything we can do to improve your experience.

Here is a video with more details on how DNS works, and why it is important: What is Multicast DNS? Previously, SiteWizard was hosting its own unicast DNS in a single data center in Chicago, IL.  Lookups were fast enough whenever someone would visit a SiteWizard website from the eastern United States.  But lookups could be slow if someone visited from a distant location, such as the Pacific coast (CA, HI) or another country....

Please note that we will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on Friday, March 29 at 9:00 PM EDT in order to replace a disk array that has reported problems.  This work must be completed in order to ensure the performance and reliability of our servers.  We are well prepared for this hardware change, and we do not expect any issues during this process.

We anticipate up to 2 hours of intermittent availability during this maintenance window.  Your website and email may be unavailable during this time.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  If you have any questions, please submit a support ticket.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.
